The Best Neighborhood Holiday Light Displays in Austin

Grab your hot cocoa, pile in the family car, and turn up those Christmas jams, because we’ve dedicated this month’s neighborhood guide to the best streets in town for cruising through and enjoying some free holiday fun with dazzling Christmas lights. From the glam to the kitschy, the classic to cutting-edge, we hope this list covers all your holiday bases.

37th Street

Perhaps the most iconic and quirky Austin neighborhood light display, this strip between Guadalupe and Home Street is best enjoyed by foot and takes place from 6pm-10pm every night until New Year’s Day.

Diagon Alley Austin

The Wizarding World and Christmastime come together for a Potterhead’s dream at this Circle C home, now famous for its annual Hogwarts Yule Ball light display. Complete with its own Leaky Cauldron offering magical snacks and drinks on select days, this spot is too special of a treat to miss out on!

Chinati Court

Visit this cul-de-sac in Cedar Park to find an impressive light display built by its families who work together to serve up Christmas cheer each year in support of the Williamson County Brown Santa program. You can follow this map to find it, and as it’s also more of a walking tour, we recommend bundling up, parking off of Sun Chase and strolling through with a hot drink in hand.

Maywald Christmas Display

Over $300,000 lights, a real live Santa Claus and the 2019 winner of ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight” can be found at 10505 Twilight Vista from now until Dec. 28. This display is free, though visitors are asked to donate to the Make-A-Wish foundation as they enter, which the family raised $80,000 for during last year’s display.

Elfvis & The Kringles

This light show in Round Rock features a live performance from “Elfvis,” and appearances by the Kringles, the Grinch and Frozen’s Olaf! This display is perfect for the little ones, and you can find it at 2405 Berwick Cove. While you’re in the neighborhood, pop over to another spectacular music and lights show at 3640 Aquamarine Drive, complete with dancing robots, Christmas tree projectors and one of the most colorful shows we’ve seen!
