Windsor Park / Mueller | 78722 & 78723

Similar to many east side neighborhoods, the Mueller / Windsor Park area has undergone a major transformation in recent years. Once considered an “undesirable” part of town overlooked by trendy establishments and the hoards of relocating Californians, the ‘22 / ‘23 is now one of the most sought-after parts of town – boasting a 30-acre park and amphitheater, mega shopping complexes like Main Streat and Mueller Regional Retail Center, a sparkling new H-E-B and some of Austin’s best new cuisine.

The Windsor Park neighborhood is bounded on the south by 51st street and the north at Tilley street, and runs east to west from Manor road to Highway 290.

The Mueller neighborhood refers to the area running north to south from east 51st street to Manor road and bounded in the east by Manor road, with Airport boulevard and Highway 290 to the west.

History

After WWII, suburban neighborhoods broke ground across the U.S., fueled in part by G.I. Bill benefits which made lower mortgages possible for veterans. Windsor Park was among this generation of master-planned communities, and began as 300 homes on 60 acres east of Cameron road, which grew in phases as the success of the neighborhoods continued.

The Mueller / Windsor Park area has become a highly popular location for families, newcomers, and young professionals seeking convenient amenities in a more affordable and still centrally-located area.
